How to get 50s inspired makeup look:

Since my last post was on the legendary beauty icon Marilyn Monroe, I'm in the mood to create a 50s inspired look. 50s was all about looking feminine and enhancing your feminine features, like the rosy cheeks, the bold lips and wider eyes. I feel that this look is very easy to do and it always looks great, whether it's for a everyday look or for a special occasion because it almost looks natural. You are just enhancing everything.

In the 1950s, it was all about soft curls, bold lips, rosy natural cheeks, defined eyebrows and a little bit of winged eyeliner. Ultimately you want a really matte finish. Below is a list of products and ways that you can use to achieve this look. This is just a random collection of products that you can use but obviously these are not the only ones and there are many others ways to achieve the 50s looks. So please don't feel this is the only way. This is just how I do it.

Products:  MAC Cosmetics- Pressed PowderNARS Blush Desire - cotton candy pinkMAC Cosmetics Lipstick - Russian Red, Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomad, No Bleeding Lips- Secret Lip Liner, Benefit Cosmetics- BADgal Lash Mascara, Sephora Collection Long-Lasting 12HR Wear Eye Line.

How to Create the 50s Makeup Look.

Face: Apply your regular foundation and concealer. It is better to use a foundation that gives a matte finish. Use the pressed powder to set your foundation, this will control the shine and give you that matte finish that we want.

Eyebrows: Our goal is to define them without making it look chunky, it should look pretty natural, but well defined. Use whatever you normally use to fill in your eyebrows, but this time make it a shade darker than you normally do. Make sure to  comb first and go over the edges of your eyebrows after you are done shaping it with a concealer to clean any access and create a nice shape.

Eyes:  Apply a very natural toned eyeshadow that is matte or shimmery on your lids. The eyeshadow should be almost the same colour as your skin. Using your black liquid eye liner, line up your top lashes. Make sure to start from the middle of your top lashes and as you get to the end, create a little wing but not too much, just so it looks like it's going outwards. Another thing to keep in mind is, make sure the eyeliner is black and very solid. I think liquid eyeliners work the best. You can use a white or a black liner to line your water line, this is optional.

Cheeks: Use a blush that looks very rosy on your cheeks. Use very minimal amount of blush and go outwards starting from the apples of your cheeks. We want to use very little blush because we want a very natural looking rosy cheeks. In the picture above on Monroe, you see the natural looking flush on her cheeks.

Lips: Use your lip liner to define your lips and shape it properly first. Then apply whichever lipstick you want. To get a perfect result in achieving the 50s look, use red, dark pinks, coral, orange anything with a red undertone would be great. Also go for a matte lipstick.

Eyelashes:  Curl your lashes and use your black mascara to coat your lashes, carefully coat your bottom lashes as well and  put only one coat for the bottom lashes.. Use as many coats as you need for your top lashes but make sure to not make it clumpy.

& you're done! I hope this was helpful and good luck!
