With Mother's Day just around the corner, I know most of you, like me, are searching for gift ideas for our precious mother. Even though Mother's Day, here in Canada isn't until May 11th, I know other countries celebrate it earlier, so I thought this would be a good time for this post. Every day should be a Mother's day, I really don't think we need one specific day from the year to let her know how much we love her. We should make our mothers feel loved and special everyday, because no one in the world can give us the unconditional love and support like our mother can. In Islam, we believe heaven lies under the feet of your Mother, so we should treat her well everyday. I normally don't do anything for Mother's Day or Father's Day just because it's not part of my culture or my religion but I been wanting to get my mum something for a while and since its Mother's Day around the corner I thought I'd just do whatever I want on that day. I'm also on a budget, so I can't really splurge as much as I want to.

Here I have gathered some really nice and cheap gift ideas that you can try if you are also on a budget.

Flowers & Cards

Flowers and cards are always a great gift. You can get a bouquet of flowers and a card under $25 from your local grocery store. This is probably the cheapest gift idea, I'm sure you can get them in less than $25. I'm sure mothers will love flowers and a thoughtful card. Write a sweet message in the card.

Scented Candles

Find out what is your mothers favorite scent and buy her some scented candles. You can find nice scented candles in the dollar store for $1-$3 but I`d recommend candles from the following stores, because they not only smell amazing but they also look every elegant: The Body Shop, Bath & Body Works, Yankee Candle. Price range from $5-$25. (click on the store names to be directed to the websites)

Home Decor: Show Pieces, Wall Frames, Vases, Lamps

Our Mother`s are always trying to make our homes look beautiful adding wall frames, show pieces, vases, lamps and much more. So you can try to get her something for her home.

Check out these links:
Vases, bowls and artificial flowers from $1 and up
Frames from $2 and up
Table Lamps from $9 and up
Decorative Pillows from $9 and up
Wall art from $6 and up

Hand bags

This one might cost a little more than any of the above ideas but if you're looking to spend a little more, then this is also a great idea. This is what I'm thinking of getting my mother. I'll make a post later about what I got. Here are some hand bags that you can check out:

Aldo: SHOULDER BAGS & TOTES - Aldo has pretty reasonable priced hand bangs that look like some designer bags. You can find bags from $20 and up.
Call it Spring: SHOULDER BAGS & TOTES - You can find bags here similar to Aldo for the same price range.
Bentley: HANDBAGS - You can find bags here for cheaper than the first two. Price from $10 and up.

Chocolate

A box of chocolate is always a sweet gift idea. Buy your mother her favorite box of chocolate. You can buy from your local grocery store, Walmart, or even from the Dollar Store. Price from $5 - $20.

Dinner

Make her a meal! It will be really sweet if you make your mother her favorite meal. If you don't know how to cook, you can always look up a receipe online or youtube.

Bake Something

Bake your mother her favourite cake! Check out this youtube channel for baking recepies: Cookies Cupcake & Cardio.

Be Crafty

Last but not least make something for your mother. Making something will be more special than buying something. I bet mothers love it when you make something on your own. It will be more meaningful to her. Make a card, paint a picture, do anything that you're good in. Check out DazzleDIY, a youtube channel for things you can make by yourself.

These were just simple easy and affordale gift ideas. We should celebrate Mother's Day, every chance we get and not just one day of the year. Nothing we do can ever compare to anything she does for us. I still hope this was helpful for those who are looking for some gift ideas. Good luck and treat your mother like the Queen she is, everyday.

Comment below and let me know what you're getting for your mother. I'd love to hear more gift ideas.

Once again I hope this was helpful and thank you for reading!

Hello my beautiful! Firstly, I apologize for not being consistence with my blogging. As from the title you already know what this post is going to be about. I know I have a lot of trouble trying to find my shade in foundation, especially if I'm doing online shopping or even drugstore shopping where you don't have the option to try it out on yourself before purchase m. My first foundation was from the drugstore when I was 13 from Revlon, but I ended up not using it (that's another story for another time), so I don't really consider this as my "first" foundation. I consider my MAC foundation that I bought when I was 18 to be my real first foundation, because that was when I really started to get in to makeup. I'm a NC 40/42 in MAC's Pro Longwear Foundation and I used that to find my colour in other brands.

I used temptalia's Foundation Matrix and from there I gathered all these foundation colour from brands that are common and well known to me. Since I'm in the colour NC 40/42, I will do only for this shade, so I can also refer back to it whenever I need to instead of searching through millions of different brands from temptalia's Foundation Matrix.

If you don't know your shade from MAC, you can also use any other brands foundation shade that you know to search for other brands (if you go on the website, it's pretty self explanatory) . If you don't know your colour for any foundation, because you're new to foundations then I suggest you go to your local makeup store and ask one of the cosmetician to help you find your colour.

Thank you for reading

Hello my beauties! I'm here with another review for y'all. BB creams were never my thing, thats why I just purchased my first BB cream last month. I always go for a full coverage and I thought BB creams wont give me that. I wanted to see what the hype was about anyways so I finally purchased one from beautyjoint and one from Walmart. The two that I got are Rimmel BB Cream Beauty Balm 9 in 1 Skin Perfecting Super Makeup (in medium) and L'Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream (in medium). These two BB creams have been in the market for a while and are much talked about.

What they claim

Rimmel BB Cream Beauty Balm 9 in 1 Skin Perfecting Super Makeup (in medium)- "It's a skin perfecting super makeup! 9 in 1 results: Primes, Moisturizes, Minimizes Pores, Conceals, Covers, Smoothes, Mattifies, Brightens and helps Protect. Lasts all Day."

L'Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream (in medium)- "Beautifying Beads: encapsulated pigments that instantly transforms to your perfect shade for the look of a flawless bare skin finish. The ultra-light lotion with vitamin C & E provides all day moisture."

They both claim to do a lot now the question is do they really do what they claim? Lets find out.

Packaging: There is nothing special about them, just in normal tube form, like most BB creams.

Review

Rimmel BB Cream Beauty Balm 9 in 1 Skin Perfecting Super Makeup (in medium)

Colour: I bought this from beautyjoint.com, so I didn't really have the advantage of testing on me for the right colour. I guessed I'd be a medium, which did end up being close to my skintone.

Formula: It's a thick creamy consistency, very drying, It's hard to blend it out with your fingers like a cream so you need to use a flat top brush or a foundation brush to blend it out. You also have to blend it out quickly because it does dry pretty fast. The formula almost feels like foundation to me. It has SPF 18 so that is a plus point.

Skin type: I'd say this is more for normal to combination skin. I wouldn't recommend this for dry skin type because after application it is very dry and after a few hours of wear it becomes very oily so I wouldn't recommend it for oily skin type either.

Coverage: It gives a medium coverage, hides small blemishes. If you're looking for full coverages this is not the one for you. It does get cakey if not blended properly.

Lasting power: I was very impressed with the lasting power, even though after some time it made me oily on the days I didn't use a setting powder, it held up for the whole day on days that I did use a powder to set it.

Price: This retails for $8.00 CND, it's a drugstore product so I'd say that is a reasonable price.

Overall: I love this BB cream! I do go for a full coverage, but ever since I been using this I am really loving the medium coverage. I love the thick cosistancy of it. The only thing I don't like about it, is the fact that it makes me oily after afew hours. I don't have much problem with it being dry while applying because I can use a moisturizer, even though I'm not sure if that's even normal, putting a cream on top of a moisturizer, but this works for me.

Re-purchase: I'd still say BB creams are not my thing but since I really liked this one I would deffenatly repurchase.

L'Oreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream (in medium)

Colour: I bought this from Walmart, so I did have the advantage of trying it on to find my colour but unfortunately they didn't have a tester so I was out of luck, but I assumed I'd be a medium. It comes out white from the tube with tiny gray beads and after you apply it, it oxidises into a natural skin tone.  This colour ended up being way too light for me.

Formula: This formula is comeletly different from the first one. This one is very runny and almost feels like lotion. It's very light, does give a matte finish. I would say this justifies it's self better as a primer than a BB cream.

Skin type: I'd recommend this for normal to combination skin type because again, like the first one this also drys matte but ends up being very oily. I found this being more oily than the Rimmel one.

Coverage: Very light. It's good for people who are looking for very light tint. It is not cakey at all. I wouldn't consider this as a BB cream it works better as a primer rather than just on its own.

Lasting power: I started getting oily within  an hour so I wouldn't say this has a good lasting power.

Price: It was around $11. I thought it's a bit expensive for such a small tube.

Overall: I did not like this product. Even though I got it in the shade medium, it gave me a very light ghostly finish. Light coverage. No SPF. Expensive. Poor lasting power. Made me oily. After using this for the first time I started noticing bumps and it made me itch a little. I know a lot of people love this cream but I personally did not like anything about this product.

Re-purchase: No.

In conclusion: it's very obvious which one I like better and why. I do feel Rimmel BB cream was true to what it claimed than the L'Oreal one. This is just my opinion on these two products based on my experience, you might have your own.

What's your favourite BB cream?

I hope this was helpful. Thank you for reading.

If you've read my beautyjoint haul post, you'll know that I ordered some Wet n Wild Megalast lipsticks. I gave one (Just Peachy) to my friend and now I have six. I been trying them out lately and I think it's time to do a review on them.

If you been reading my blog, you already know how obsessed I am with matte lipsticks. Wet n Wild Megalast lipstick collection has a lot of nice colours and a lot of them are said to be dupes of some MAC lipsticks. I went ahead and randomly ordered these colours that I felt I would like.

Pros: They are very creamy, except for two(which I will talk about in the cons section). They glide on very easily. Great colour pay off. It is such a creamy formula that it almost feels like MACs luster finish. It so moisturizing that when I was taking pictures taking one colour off and putting another on, it didn't dry my lips at all. It does dry to a matte finish after. I loved all of them I ordered except of the two that I'm going to talk about in the cons section.

Cons: Right of the bat I didn't like Pinkerbell and 24 Carrot Gold, because they were way to light for my skin tone. After applying it I did not like anything about them. They both were very cakey, very milky, very drying and the colour also didn't look good on me. If I'm talking about all the lipsticks together, I did notice that after a few hours, all of them bled. It also got on my teeth, so you have to be really careful while wearing these lipsticks. I wasn't disappointed at all because obviously you can't expect them to be like your high end lipstick quality, when they only cost $1.49 USD.

*Edited* I don't know how I forgot to add this when I originally made this post, because this was the one thing I didn't like the most about these lipsticks and that is the reason I wouldn't re-purchase. It is their packaging. I'm a sucker for good packaging and they literally have the worst packaging. Normally when you spin the bottom of the lipstick the tube goes up and down, and goes all the way down to the point where you can't see it but for these lipsticks they don't go all the way down. So when you're putting on the cap the lipstick is always getting on the cap. You have to basically put the cap on in slow motion and ain't nobody got time for that!

As you can see how the tube doesn't go all the way down and the lipstick always gets on the cap while you're putting it back on.

Overall, for the price I think these are just amazing matte lipsticks, just be a little careful while wearing them. Matte lipsticks are usually expensive so if you can get your hands on these then you can save a few bucks. I would also suggest these lipsticks for beginners, people who are just getting into makeup.

Re-purchase: Maybe not, I do have six already and i'm not a fan of their packaging, maybe if the re-package.

Have you tried any of these lipsticks? Which ones are your favourite?

I hope this was helpful, if you have any questions, please leave them below in the comment section. As always, thank you for reading!

The biggest struggle for me this winter was keeping my lips moist and preventing them from chapping. I normally have dry lips all year around but winter makes it worse. Applying Vaseline works but I noticed my Vaseline drys out and then my lips are all flakey. No matter what I do, it goes back to being dry and I constantly find myself peeling the dead skin of my lips. Gross & painful  I know! Clearly this is a issue for me, so I've looking around and trying different things to see what actually works for me and I found a way to fix my dry lips problem. It's a classic way of curing your dry lips but I wanted to share this anyways with anyone who might be having the same problem as me. Before I get started, I just want to say this worked for me and it might not necessarily work for everyone.

What you will need
Tooth brush -to exfoliate

Sugar- the texture of the sugar will help remove dead skin.

Olive oil- prevent your lips from drying while you're exfoliating them.

Vaseline- to moisturize your lips.

1. Wet your lips with a damped cloth that has been soaked under lukewarm water and then squeezed.

2. Mix the olive oil and the sugar.

3. Using your tooth brush apply it in a circular motion, rubbing the dead skin off very gently.

4. When your done removing all the dead skin rinse everything with lukewarm water.

5. Pat your lips completely dry and immediately put a good amount of Vaseline.

6. Use a lip balm/chapsticks/lip moisturizer through out the day, everyday.

Do this every other day for two weeks and if it doesn't work, try another method.

If your lips are really dry do this method before applying lipstick. It will really make you lips look fuller and healthier.

This was just a way to get rid of dry skin on your lips. You want to make sure you prevent your lips from drying in the first place. Here are some things you can do:

Drink plenty of water to keep your lips hydrated.

    Eat lots of vegetables.

Use a lip balm before going to bed.

Don't lick your lips, it will dry your lips out even more.

I don't own any images in this posts. Click on the image for it's original source.

I hope this was helpful, if you have any questions, please leave them below in the comment section. Thank you for reading!

Just yesterday I said I was going to give shopping a break but then today my mum took me out and how could I resist not buying something from Shoppers Drugsmart? I felt like everything was calling my name and asking me to bring them home because they felt so lonely and needed a home. I tried my best to avoid them but these two lippy's were like, "you need us!" So I had to get them! I'm going to stop doing these haul type posts because I been doing them a lot lately, and do more of reviews and looks posts. So I got the Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish matte 104 (my first lipstick from the Kate Moss collection) and 038 In Vogue.

Kate Moss 104

Packaging: The packaging is adorable! I'm a big sucker for good packaging. I know Kate Moss collection has been out for a while now and the main reason I wanted to own them when it first came out was because of their packaging. It looks very classy and elegant.
Formula: It is a matte lipstick with a creamy finish and I love that about it because my lips are always dry so creamy-ness of the formula will really help my lips look moisturized.
Colour: It is such a beautiful natural pink colour. I normally wear just red lipstick or a natural pink for my everyday wear, so I'm excited to use this for my everyday natural look.

038 In Vogue

Packaging & Formula: I don't have much to say about this because it's just from Rimmel's original collection. The packaging is very sleek and nice.  I love the formula since it is also creamy with a matte finish.
Colour: The only thing I have to say is about the colour. I absolutely love it! It's a bright pink, almost like a fuschia pink. I been really into bright lips lately so I'm really excited to try this out.

Review: I don't do reviews until I have used a product a few times, just so I can be honest with my judgment and give a genuine review. So I will do reviews in my future posts if I feel the need to.
What is your favourite lipstick from the Kate Moss collection?

I'm always on the hunt for a good drugstore foundation because I want to move away from using my high end foundation everyday. I think it's good to have a combination of both, high end and drugstore foundation, so when you only need to wear it for a few hours, you can use your drugstore foundation and you're not wasting your expensive products. While I was placing my Beautyjoint order, I randomly selected the Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation SPF 18, just to give it a try. I didn't really check or read reviews about it before ordering it, like I normally do. I even selected the color with out looking at swatches from reviews. After placing the order, I did look around to see what other people had to say about this, at this point it would've been too late even if I decided to not get it. After reading and watching some reviews on youtube, I was disappointed that I didn't read around before placing the order because everyone said, they don't recommend this for oily skin and I have really oily skin. After receiving it, I gave it a try and this was my experience...

Before I get started, I just want to say, this is how this product worked on me, It might have worked differently on other people.

What it is: It's a full coverage foundation, that is buildable. It has a very runny consistency. Gives a luminous finish. Lasts all day, and has SPF 18.

What it promises: "Traceless coverage foundation with Advanced Smart-Tone technology for perfectly flawless skin under any light. Enhanced with Sapphire Radiance for illuminating glow. Lasts all day. UVA/UVB protection."

Does it work: Now thats quite a promise for the price tag of $7.99 ! Question is does it really work? Absolutely! I was really afraid it would make me super oily so after applying I did use my MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural to set the foundation and it worked just fine. It lasted through the whole day, I didn't have to touch up. I got it in the colour 130 True Ivory, which seems like a very light colour for my skin tone, but after applying, it wasn't that light. It did match with my skin tone, however, if I purchase this again I will get one shade darker for sure because I do like my foundation with a yellow undertone and this had more of a white under tone. I love the fact that it has SPF 18, I wont need to worry about applying sunscreen and it smells amazing!

Packaging: I like the packaging. It's in a glass bottle, which looks pretty expensive. I know some have the pump, but the one I got didn't, so i'm a little disappointed, but over all the packaging is still nice for the price.

Overall: I'm really impressed with this foundation. For the price, I think it gives great coverage and can be worn for a long time. For those with oily or combination skin type, you must use a setting powder, or else you will get oily. I think, for now I have found my favourite drugstore foundation. I will most likely look for another one that would be better with my oily skin but for now, I think this is fine. I'd give this a 4/5 .

Re-purchase: Yes! I wouldn't mind re-purchasing this. I think it's perfect for the price and it gives everything that I need unless I find another drugstore foundation that works better for me.

That was all for now, I hope this was helpful. Thank you for reading!

What is your favourite drugstore foundation?

I would like to wish all the ladies out there a very happy international women's day !!!  My mum and I went shopping today and spotted a group of gentlemen from Lancôme  giving out these beautiful roses to celebrate women's day. I just thought this was such a beautiful and thoughtful idea. May all the women in the world be respected and loved everyday, may their struggle be recognized, and may their hard work be appreciated. I hope everyone had an amazing day.

Sephora Jumbo Liner 12HR Review!

With out a doubt I had very low expectation for any Sephora Collection products but I was really surprised after I made some purchase from the Sephora Collection. I always avoided buying anything from their collection because I thought they would be like drugstore products with a high price tag than drugstore products. One day however, I was desperate for a face primer and didn't really know which one to get, as I walked over the Sephora Collection section, I randomly picked up the Sephora Collection Anti-Shine Foundation Primer and thank god that I did because that is like my holy grail primer right now and this was how Sephora Collection won my heart and I fell  in love with their collection. After buying the primer I wanted to try more of their products so I purchased their crayon jumbo eyeliner and lipsticks, which is also my holy grail and I'll talk about the lipsticks in a future post but for now I'll talk about their crayon jumbo eyeliner and how impressed I am. I picked out three that I felt I would use the most: 13 Marine, 08 Gold, and 21 Pink Glitter.

What It Is

It comes in selection of colors from bold black to shimmers and can be used as thin eyeliner, bold smudged look, or even blended out as eyeshadow. It is waterproof and long lasting up to 12 hours. Doesn't melt due to heat, has a creamy, high pigmented formula and is supposed to give a rich pigmented matte or shimmery finish.

Pros: It's very pigmented. It can be used as a eyeshadow. 13 Marine is very good for smokey eyes. I didn't wear it for 12 hours but it was long lasting. The colour didn't wear off. 08 Gold can be used as a base for eyeshadow and it will really make the shadows pop.

Cons: The price! It retails for $17.00. For jumbo eyeliners I found the price to be a little high. Alternative to this would be the NYX Jumbo eyeliner pencil. Another problem I had  is the glitter, I'm not really a glitter fan but I'm sure others might like that. From the three I bought, 21 Pink Glitter seemed to have the most glitter.

Overall: I love this product and I'm so glad I bought it. Especially these three colours. The Gold is great for everyday use, if you don't want to carry a palette, take this jumbo pencil and a brush and your good to go. Marine is great for smokey eyes. I always do my smokey eyes with a blue and this colour added with some black eyeshadow or even bended black eyeliner gives the perfect smokey eyes. The 21 Pink Glitter is very light with lots of glitter to it, so this one is my least favourite out of the three and I don't think I'll use it much but again this would be a great base, since it is such a light colour you can put on any other colour eyeshadow and it will make the colour more pigmented.

Will I purchase more of these? I'm not sure, It is a bit pricey for me and I have found cheaper alternatives. Maybe if they drop the price down I might go back to them but for now I'll stick to what I have. For those who don't mind spending $17.00 for a jumbo pencil, I'd recommend going for this!

Have you tried these? What do you think? What are your favourite jumbo pencil?

How to get 50s inspired makeup look:

Since my last post was on the legendary beauty icon Marilyn Monroe, I'm in the mood to create a 50s inspired look. 50s was all about looking feminine and enhancing your feminine features, like the rosy cheeks, the bold lips and wider eyes. I feel that this look is very easy to do and it always looks great, whether it's for a everyday look or for a special occasion because it almost looks natural. You are just enhancing everything.

In the 1950s, it was all about soft curls, bold lips, rosy natural cheeks, defined eyebrows and a little bit of winged eyeliner. Ultimately you want a really matte finish. Below is a list of products and ways that you can use to achieve this look. This is just a random collection of products that you can use but obviously these are not the only ones and there are many others ways to achieve the 50s looks. So please don't feel this is the only way. This is just how I do it.

Products:  MAC Cosmetics- Pressed Powder, NARS Blush Desire - cotton candy pink, MAC Cosmetics Lipstick - Russian Red, Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomad, No Bleeding Lips- Secret Lip Liner, Benefit Cosmetics- BADgal Lash Mascara, Sephora Collection Long-Lasting 12HR Wear Eye Line.

How to Create the 50s Makeup Look.

Face: Apply your regular foundation and concealer. It is better to use a foundation that gives a matte finish. Use the pressed powder to set your foundation, this will control the shine and give you that matte finish that we want.

Eyebrows: Our goal is to define them without making it look chunky, it should look pretty natural, but well defined. Use whatever you normally use to fill in your eyebrows, but this time make it a shade darker than you normally do. Make sure to  comb first and go over the edges of your eyebrows after you are done shaping it with a concealer to clean any access and create a nice shape.

Eyes:  Apply a very natural toned eyeshadow that is matte or shimmery on your lids. The eyeshadow should be almost the same colour as your skin. Using your black liquid eye liner, line up your top lashes. Make sure to start from the middle of your top lashes and as you get to the end, create a little wing but not too much, just so it looks like it's going outwards. Another thing to keep in mind is, make sure the eyeliner is black and very solid. I think liquid eyeliners work the best. You can use a white or a black liner to line your water line, this is optional.

Cheeks: Use a blush that looks very rosy on your cheeks. Use very minimal amount of blush and go outwards starting from the apples of your cheeks. We want to use very little blush because we want a very natural looking rosy cheeks. In the picture above on Monroe, you see the natural looking flush on her cheeks.

Lips: Use your lip liner to define your lips and shape it properly first. Then apply whichever lipstick you want. To get a perfect result in achieving the 50s look, use red, dark pinks, coral, orange anything with a red undertone would be great. Also go for a matte lipstick.

Eyelashes:  Curl your lashes and use your black mascara to coat your lashes, carefully coat your bottom lashes as well and  put only one coat for the bottom lashes.. Use as many coats as you need for your top lashes but make sure to not make it clumpy.

& you're done! I hope this was helpful and good luck!

Marilyn Monroe

June 1, 1926 – August 5, 1962

Marilyn Monroe, truly is the definition of "gone but never forgotten".  It's been 56 years since her death on August 5th, 1962, and even today, she is still one of the most influential person in our history. Even after so many years, she still remains as a famous beauty icon. She said "imperfection is beauty" however, she never failed to achieve the perfect look for herself . People are so inspired by her, even the young generation of today. It seems like no one ever stops obsessing over her. We often see big stars always re-creating her signature looks. It feels as if she never left the popular imagination, since she is always brought up when someone talks about beauty icons or even the 50s.

I always tell myself I was born in the wrong era. I should have been born in the 50s, because I am obsessed with 50s beauty and fashion. Everything, from tailored suits, fitted jacket, gloves, pearls, pencil skirts, halter tops, shirt dresses, Peter Pan collars to soft curly hair, bold beautiful lips, rosy cheeks, defined eyebrows and winged eyeliner. The 50s was all about creating feminine looks. I am absolutely in love with the fashion and beauty trends of the 50s and I get my inspiration from Marilyn Manroe. She has defined the 50s with her signature winged eyeliner, red lips and blond hair. She's truly my definition of beauty.
